Youth Business Initiative Nigeria is a member of the international network of Youth Business International UK, which nurtures entrepreneurship spirit in youth by providing them business mentoring and access to finance.

YBI Nigeria is a not-for-profit organization initiated in March 2000 by Mrs. Alero Okotie-Eboh Jadesimi to address the issues of youth unemployment, poverty alleviation and job creation. It seeks to promote the development of entrepreneurship among youths, enhances development of viable micro and small enterprises through provision of funding, mentorship, and hence, promotion of youth participation in economic development.

The Objectives of YBI Nigeria include:
•    Provision of finance to start-ups with viable business proposals.
•    Provide on-going support through business mentors.
•    Assist in developing entrepreneurial culture, increase self esteem and lifetime skills among young people.
•    Serve as a bridge between young people and older business generation.
•    Reduce incidence of youth alienation in the society.
•    Facilitate growth of small scale business sector of the economy using young people as a reference point.
•    Involve successful business people and corporate bodies in social work and community development.
•    Support the government’s poverty alleviation goals by providing business opportunities for young people.

YBI NIGERIA MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of Youth Business Initiative Nigeria is to work with young people and provide access to financial supports for those with viable business proposition but who are unable to find finance elsewhere.
YBI will also provide successful applicants with a volunteer business mentor and full access to the organization’s local and international business support network. This would facilitate the creation of viable youth enterprises that will provide new opportunities, foster self – confidence and contribute to sustainable economic development in Nigeria.

To create new employment opportunities for young Nigerians, and to promote the culture of youth enterprise thereby discouraging the regular search for white collar jobs.
